Hofer – Bowscale
Anchoring hofer in the UK
This project supported German-based hofer powertrain to establish a larger UK technical centre in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. This facility will allow hofer to bring significant experience of electrical, mechanical and software system design, as well as production to the UK market place. This project has also safeguarded 70 UK jobs across the whole consortium.

- Reduces weight of existing systems by optimising multipath gearing and using lighter materials
- Improves vehicles CO2 performance
- Brought major German transmissions supplier, hofer, into the UK
- Enabled hofer to anchor technology, expertise and skills in the UK
- £30 million total project value, receiving £15 million funding through the APC
