What is the Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP)?

The Technology Development Accelerator Programme (TDAP) created by the APC is now helping technology developers access new market opportunities and drive growth. It is aimed at small and medium sized technology developers and provides the support that enables them to be commercially viable more rapidly. The programme helps the technology developers identify routes to market and speed up development cycles.

The companies which were selected to join the TDAP pilot are now being taken through a three stage process which provides the technical and industry specialist support as they develop their projects. The purpose of the process is to help give them skills and prepare them for engagement in automotive OEM and Tier 1 development programmes.

TDAP is currently a pilot programme run by the APC which has taken on ten initial technology developers.

The TDAP pilot can help companies get to a technology and manufacturing readiness level that is required for them to feature in the applications being received for the current grant funding competition with up to £60 million currently available to support low carbon advanced propulsion projects worth more than £120 million.

The competition which opened on the 5th May and runs until the end of June is called ‘APC4 Driving UK Capability and Economic Impact through Low Carbon Propulsion Technologies’ for projects which are collaborative and business-led and include a vehicle manufacturer or a tier 1 supplier and an SME partner. They must also develop the UK’s supply chain in the field of low carbon vehicle propulsion technology. The competition will fund the development of on-vehicle technologies for either on-road or off-highway vehicles.

Consortia must have a clear, demonstrable route to production, and line of sight to market, involving at least one vehicle manufacturer and/or a tier 1 supplier and at least one SME partner.
