APC competition to find the next greenpower champions

The last two years have seen the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) and it’s Spokes sponsor 15 primary schools across the UK with their own Green Goblin electric kit car.

The Greenpower challenge gives students a taste of the exciting world of engineering, inspiring them to put themselves on track to becoming the faces of future UK automotive engineering.

We are looking for more primary schools (students aged 9-11) who would like a chance of winning a Greenpower kit car. Through the competition, the winning schools will have the opportunity to design, build and race their own Greenpower electric kit car at race courses around the UK. Students just need to answer ‘how do you think we will travel in the year 2050?’ on one side of A3 paper, being as creative as they can. This answer could be written, painted, or using collage – we want your students to use their imagination!

The Greenpower project was a fantastic way to include the entire class in a practical activity to learn about science, maths and working as a team.

The APC and its Spokes will guide your budding engineers through the project, with the aim of engaging all students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects and promoting equal opportunities. So far, schools have competed in numerous races, with some reaching heights of the regional semi-finals and winning of the APC Greenpower trophy.
