UK companies on a charge at the Battery Show
UK automotive technology companies were in pole position last week as thousands of engineers, purchasers, academics and researchers from across the whole of Europe gathered in Stuttgart for the Electric & Hybrid / Battery Show.
Managed by the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC), the UK pavilion, which hosted 10 of the UK’s leading companies for the design, development and manufacture of the vehicles of tomorrow, drew significant crowds with many high-quality discussions about possible future projects taking place.
Ian Constance, CEO at the Advanced Propulsion Centre, comments:
As the largest event of its kind in Europe, it was no great surprise that there were so many visitors to the show, but what really stood out was the quality of the visitors from a wide range of industry sectors. The UK pavilion proved to be an excellent focal point once again, creating a critical mass and big draw for visitors that often helps some of our smaller innovators. What’s more, it also acted a powerful stimulus for potential collaboration among the exhibitors themselves.
Nick Edge from TWI echoed the comments. “This was a really good show for us. The industry is in need of technology and consequently it attracted lots of focused visitors who had a thirst for knowledge.”
Stephen Lester from Flint Engineering said, “We were really impressed with the quality of the people at the show. We’ve made some good contacts both on the pavilion itself and with other exhibitors and we’ve now got lots to follow up on!”
John Fox from AMTE Power said, “This was a great show which allowed us to meet lots of our existing and new customers. All three days were busy and the show was full of the right people. Not only have we managed to generate a significant number of serious enquiries, but we also spoke to a number of potential manufacturing partners which has further accelerated our thinking and knowledge.”
With the UK continuing to carry out ground-breaking research and develop pioneering technology in the field of batteries, electric and hybrid vehicles, the APC will be hosting a further UK pavilion at the Battery Show in North America in September before returning to Stuttgart again in April 2020.
