Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP)
LiNa Energy
Project Highlights
- Innovative re-engineering of operationally proven sodium–metal-chloride chemistry, originally developed in the 80s and 90s, but due to design engineering limitations and the emergence of lithium-ion batteries, there haven’t been any major developments or performance advancements.
- LiNa batteries offer higher energy density, lower cost, and better temperature resilience than lithium-ion batteries, making them a more economic choice for longer-duration (>4 hrs) energy storage in key solar growth markets.
- Uses abundant raw materials, enabling competitive cost even at a ‘mega-factory’ scale.
- Our Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP) helped LiNa Energy with commercial market support including a focus on product market fit and validation, as well as business plan development that helped secure partnerships with UK beachhead market customers. During TDAP, LiNa Energy signed 3 memorandum of understanding agreements with potential customers and partners.
