Perkins – ASCENT
Innovation in simulation
As part of the project, CMCL has developed new simulation technology which can help the development of strong and cost-effective development of state of the art engines. This programme has been used as part of the ASCENT project which has allowed for better predictions of how the engine will behave and the likely emissions.
Project Highlights
- Key research into CO2 reduction and the increase of power density for off-highway diesel engine application
- Development and application of a new simulation technology
- Simulation can be applied to a whole engine to predict combustion characteristics and engine-out NOx emissions consistently
- Total project value £25.9 million, with £13 million funded through the APC
