APC brings £60 million to the industry at FT ‘Future of the Car Summit’

Tony Pixton, the Chief Executive of the Advanced Propulsion Centre, is speaking this morning at the Financial Times ‘FT Future of the Car Summit’ in London.

Industry leaders from across Europe are meeting to discuss key issues affecting the future of the car industry with innovation and investment the first item on the agenda.

Chaired by Andy Sharman, Motor Industry Correspondent from the Financial Times, the session includes speakers from Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, and Hyundai who join Tony to explore new opportunities.

The APC has just opened the latest grant funding competition with up to £60 million available in collaborative funding for projects worth more than £120 million.

The competition is called ‘APC4 Driving UK Capability and Economic Impact through Low Carbon Propulsion Technologies’ for projects which are collaborative and business-led and include a vehicle manufacturer or a tier 1 supplier and an SME partner. They must also develop the UK’s supply chain in the field of low carbon vehicle propulsion technology. The competition will fund the development of on-vehicle technologies for either on-road or off-highway vehicles.

Consortia must have a clear, demonstrable route to production, and line of sight to market, involving at least one vehicle manufacturer and/or a tier 1 supplier and at least one SME partner.
