APC strengthens executive team to support the UK’s transition to zero strategy
The Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC), a £1 billion joint venture between government and the automotive industry, which in seven years has reduced CO2 emissions equivalent to removing 8.8 million cars from the road, has made two appointments to its executive team.
The appointments of Philippa Oldham and Jo Evans are key to realising the APC’s vision to place the UK at the forefront of the global transition to net zero, through clean transport and mobility solutions.
Philippa Oldham, a Chartered Engineer with experience of managing a wide range of stakeholders from government, industry, and academia to create visionary solutions that challenge existing sector silos, has been promoted to Stakeholder Engagement Director.
Jo Evans, a Chartered Marketer with an MA in strategic communications, and with more than two decades’ experience working across industrial sectors, has been promoted to Strategy and Performance Director.
Welcoming the appointments, Ian Constance, Chief Executive of the APC, said:
The APC is harnessing knowledge and insight to secure a net-zero automotive sector in the UK. Philippa and Jo have already played a key role in helping the APC achieve massive progress towards this vision. Their promotions will further accelerate our ability to help build a stronger UK economy through the delivery of safe, sustainable and affordable mobility.
Philippa Oldham said:
We have built networks and partnerships that are bringing long-term benefit to the automotive sector and wider society. It’s our belief that the APC can drive the investment that we need to equip the UK with the right capability and technology to be at the forefront and in pulling innovative, low carbon propulsion solutions through to fruition, and accelerating economic return.
Jo Evans said:
My role is to drive the APC’s future strategy programme, which is designed to support the UK automotive industry in leading the charge towards a cleaner, greener world. The APC team brings together the intelligence, passion and commitment, and through collaboration across government, industry and academia, we are committed to creating a better future.
The Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) accelerates the industrialisation of technologies which will help to realise net-zero emission vehicles. It is at the heart of the UK government’s commitment to end the country’s contribution to global warming by 2050.
Funding for both research and development and capital investment is available through a series of streams including Core Competitions, Technology Developer Accelerator Programme and the newly created Automotive Transformation Fund, under the leadership of Julian Hetherington, Automotive Transformation Director, who was appointed in early 2020.
