UK automotive industry at 17-year high
Overall production was at a 17-year high in the first quarter of 2017 says Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). Demand for UK manufactured vehicles is continuing to soar, with one car being exported every 20 seconds in March resulting in a growth of 10.6% on the previous year. 170,691 cars were built in the UK in March, up 7.3%, with overseas customers taking a total share of 76% of the cars produced. 471,685 vehicles were manufactured in this period, up 7.6% in comparison to the previous year.
